vt.
levigated, levigating [< L levigatus, pp. of levigare, to make smooth, polish < levis, smooth (see LIME1) + agere, to make (see ACT1)]
1. to grind to a fine, smooth powder
2. to separate fine particles from coarse particles of (a substance) by grinding in water so as to suspend the fine particles, which settle to the bottom last
